Honourable Prime Minister Interacted with SHGs members across the country.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had direct interaction with members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the country through video conferencing on July 12, 2018 at 9.30 am and live web telecast of the interaction programme broadcasted on Doordarshan. In this programme Prime Minister interacted with the women SHGs members under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gramin Kaushylaya Yojana (DDU-GKY) and Rural Self Emplyment Training Institute (RSETIs). During the programme PM expressed happiness over the experiences of SHG members, especially on the positive change at grass root level of the rural economically vulnerable society.
In this connection, a programme was organized by ICAR-KVK East Sikkim to show the live web cast to the members of SHGs of different villages of East Sikkim at Conference Hall, ICAR-National Organic Farming Research Institute, Tadong with the leadership of Dr. R.K. Avasthe, Joint Director, ICAR-NOFRI, Tadong and Dr. Raghavendra Singh, Sr. Scientist and Head (I/c), KVK- East Sikkim. A total of 75 nos. of SHGs members from Lingtam, Dikling Pachekhani, Losing, Tasithang, Amba and Rumtek-Sajong villages and other Govt. officials were present in the progrmme. During the programme, the Hon'ble Prime Minister interacted with members of the nine SHGs of different parts of the country. The interactive programme was really motivating, which covered the success stories of the women entrepreneurs of the country.
The programme was followed by a very effective Framers’ - Scientist Interaction programme, which was coordinated by Dr. Prasanta Kr. Pathak, SMS (Animal Science), Dr. J. K. Singh, SMS (Plant Breeding) and Dr. Manoj Kumar, SMS (Agronomy). The interactive programme was followed by a Field Day programme on "Organic Production Techniques of Sesame in Hilly Region" organized at Research Farm of ICAR-NOFRI, Tadong and followed by the showcasing the ICAR Improved Production techniques of various crops, fruits and vegetables.
